Principal’s Message
Welcome
Welcome to the website of Scoil Chlochair Mhuire, Carrigtwohill, a Catholic co-educational primary school in the heart of Carrigtwohill. Our trustees are the SMG congregation who have provided for education in Carrigtwohill for over 150 years.
It is a privilege for me to be the leader of a team of professionals who continue to promote a spirit of belonging to a positive community that care for one another, recognising the value of our role in the locality and continuing to work collaboratively with all sectors of the community.
The staff of Scoil Chlochair Mhuire, who actively participate in further professional development, is dedicated and share their varied expertise throughout the school. Having academic, engineering, artistic, technological, sporting, musical and pastoral expertise amongst members of staff increases the learning opportunities for our pupils.
We present the general primary school curriculum to a very high standard and embrace extra opportunities that allow children to further develop their interests and talents. We acknowledge difference between us – cultural, denominational, ability, challenges – and we learn from one another and together, developing a love of learning and a curiosity for life.
We cater for the diverse needs in our community and focus on the individual education needs of each pupil. In Scoil Chlochair Mhuire we value and respect the uniqueness of each child and the preciousness of having a happy and engaging childhood which is a most important foundation for later life experiences. We strive to open as many opportunities as possible in a variety of areas to all children in our school – academic, sporting, creative.
Our school environment is well resourced for active learning with interactive boards and access to technology in each classroom, a dedicated library, activity rooms, and spacious grounds which allows us the space to have gardens and a poly tunnel, different outdoor playing areas, and lots of space to explore, play or chat with friends.
We focus on the holistic development of children in a vibrant, caring, inclusive, Christian school community with positive interaction between pupils, parents, school staff and the wider community.
We eagerly look forward to the development of our new school building and the many new opportunities this will bring to cater for future generations of children in Carrigtwohill.
If you would like to meet us in person or have some questions you would like to ask having browsed the information available on our website – please make contact with us and we will be delighted to reply to any of your queries.
Nora Moran, Principal.
