5th/6th class blog

Great fun all day, working together, competing against each other, making memories! GAA, soccer, bouncy castles, table tennis, yoga giant jenja and loads more. Míle buíochas to all who helped organise the day. 

This week, maths got hands-on (and sticky!) in fifth class as our class explored 3D shapes in a very sweet way — using marshmallows and toothpicks!

To coincide with the Grand Planetary Alignment taking place in February, Múinteoir Rory's 5th Class completed projects on planets (and the Sun) in our Solar System.

This November we had the official opening of our School Library. We really enjoyed listening to the old Irish tales and stories told by Balor, an Irish seanchaoí (storyteller), who officially opened the library for us.

Múinteoir Hannah's 6th class enjoyed collaborating with the Junior Infants to create some colourful worry monsters recently.

5th classes went on a local history walk today. It was a glorious day to explore the history of our surroundings.

5th class enjoyed experimenting with polymer.

6th Class have been learning all about the Titanic recently. Last month, we took a trip to Cobh on the train to visit the Titanic Experience. Múinteoir Hannah's class took inspiration from this and got to work creating their own exhibition.

6th Class have hopped on “Sam’s Business Bus” this month. They’ve been tuning in online to learn all about entrepreneurship, business ideas and everything in between. They’re well-equipped to follow their business dreams! Definitely some future entrepreneurs in the making.

Múinteoir Hannah's 6th Class channelled their inner crazy scientists during Science Week as they created a colourful Science Fair for the Junior Infants.

It has been such a busy time in 5th class. We celebrated science week with a plethora of experiments, including an exploration of our olfactory sense to decipher taste and we learned all about refraction of light. We crafted cosy winter hats and we went on our penultimate bus trip to Coral swimming in Cobh. All that, mixed with the usual rounds of academic excellence

This week both fifth classes joined forces for a PE lesson on reply racing.  It was a fantastic display of teamwork.

This year our 5th classes collaborated to make motorised cars with their own gear system. We love a challenge :-)

Our 5th class students recently returned from an unforgettable adventure at Oysterhaven. We were blessed with the weather and the day provided us with an exciting blend of educational activities and outdoor experiences. We were thrilled with the success of this trip and proud of our students for their enthusiasm and excellent behaviour throughout.
